Are you considering bringing your pet to your couples or family photoshoot? If you know me, you know I LOVE animals! Even more, I love capturing beautiful photos of beautiful people, and it's even better when their fur children come along. I've said it before and Ill say it again, my favorite client is your pet!
I always encourage you to include furry members of your family into your photoshoots, there's just something about having a happy bundle of fluff around to put everyone at ease! I know you probably don't need more convincing, but if you do, here are five reasons you should bring your dog to your photo session!
1. Your pets are your family, including them in your photoshoot can help promote genuine moments!! Spending time with your pets is one of the things you do together every day, so why not do the same in your photos? I've taken photos with dogs, horses, and even baby cows. Everyone has a pet of their own that they love more than words could ever describe.
2. They give you something to do with your hands. Many people struggle with this, especially when it's their first time having professional photos taken, trust me, I know this. A leash around your wrist, a hand on your dog's head, simple distractions like this can help your photos have a more natural feel. They also ease any nervousness, and help kids relax too! They bring an element of fun to your session like no other.
3. They easily create spontaneity, cultivating real moments, resulting in the most amazing candid shots. Let's face it, pets can be unpredictable, and a well-placed face lick can result in some of the best, most genuine facial expressions that you just wouldn't get without a funny, unpredictable moment.
4. Mosty likely when you met your spouse, you started out with a pet together. This special furry family member has traveled every milestone at your side. Moving, marriage, and kids, they have adapted to the changes with a happy tail wag. I know that in 20 years from now, you'll be grateful to have had them in your family portrait.
5. When you combine kids and pets, you just can't go wrong. I have taken photos for families that just got a new puppy to families that have an elderly pet that they want remembered. Pets give a unique twist to your photos, and honestly, it's become a pretty popular trend.
A little fun fact about me that relates to this article, I went to school to be a veterinary technician and I practiced for over 8 years, until I had kids. I also grew up riding horses, and even had one for a bit of time.
So, when a client asks me to bring a pet, you have no idea how happy I am to say yes!
